TSA has four regular publications: the Proceedings of the biennial symposia, an annual textile bibliography, produced in conjunction with the Textile Museum in Washington D.C., a newsletter that is published three times a year, and an annual membership directory. TSA also gives an annual award for the best publication of the year in the area of ethnic textile studies (R. L. Shep Award).

Copies of Proceedings, Bibliography, and Newsletters still in print are available for purchase. Contact the TSA office to determine which issues are still available. See the Order Form for further information.

Three volumes of the Proceedings are out of print, and plans are underway to link papers from these volumes to this Website, subject to the permission of the authors.

Proceedings
Juried papers presented at the Society's biennial symposia are published in Proceedings, which is free to members in the year following each symposium; 2003 members will receive the proceedings of the 2002 symposium.

Author Guidelines for submission of papers accepted for presentation at TSA Symposium 2004 will be available via a link from this page after August 10, 2004.

Membership Directory
The Textile Society of America publishes an annual Directory which lists the names, addresses, and special interests of all members. This is distributed as a benefit of membership in July in even numbered years.

R. L. Shep Book Award
The Textile Society of America is pleased to announce the establishment of the R. L. Shep Book Award, a $750 prize which the Society will give annually to the publication judged the best book of the year in the area of ethnic textile studies. The first award was made in 2001 for a work published in 2000.

Nominations are open to English language books (including bi- or multilingual publications in which all essential information appears in English). For the purpose of the award, "ethnic" textiles are defined as the nonindustrial textiles of Asia, Africa, Oceania, and Native and Latin America, as well as those of identifiable cultural groups in Europe and North America. Books of a variety of formats, including monographs, anthologies and exhibition catalogs may be nominated. The main criteria for the prize-winning book are high quality research and scholarship, presented in an accessible, engaging manner.

Nominations and review copies of the books must be provided to the Award Committee by March 1 of any given year, and the award will be made the following fall. The committee consists of three individuals appointed by the TSA Board, and will have a rotating membership. The Board has selected the following individuals for the first Award Committee: Roy Hamilton (Chair), Suzanne Baizerman and Lotus Stack. Further information and detailed guidelines will be posted shortly on this website and will be available from the TSA office, P.O. Box 193, Middletown, DE 19709.
